Nursery admissions
Glusburn Primary School has a 26 place Nursery with children attending part-time (Mon to Weds lunchtime or Weds lunchtime to Friday). We now offer the full 30 hours of nursery care. This is allocated termly if there is space.
Parents can apply for a Nursery place any time after their child's second birthday. Prospective parents will need to contact the school office for the appropriate Nursery application form which needs to be completed and returned together with the child's birth certificate, proof of address and photo identification of both parents, if possible.
Children can be admitted to the Nursery in the September after their third birthday if there are places. Parents/carers should note that admission to the school's Nursery does not in any way guarantee a place in the primary school.
At Glusburn Nursery, we adhere to North Yorkshire’s primary school admissions policy when allocating places.
Free Early Years Education and Childcare
All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free early education. From September 2017 an additional 15 hours of free childcare is available for families that meet the Government's eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
The government has set the following eligibility criteria:
- Both parents must be working - or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family
- Each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum
wage or national living wage
- Each parent must have an annual income of less than £100,000
More detailed information can be found on the GOV.UK website
How to Apply
Parents need to apply online via HMRC.
Eligible parents will be given a code which will be valid for 3 months, parents will be asked to re-confirm their eligibility towards the end of the 3 month period. HMRC will send reminders to parents.
Glusburn Community Primary and Nursery School
To accommodate up to 30 hour nursery places whilst continuing to offer the advantages of accessing a teacher-led Nursery, all children can access a minimum of 15 hours spread over 2.5 days at the beginning of the week or 2.5 days at the end of the week.
Our nursery sessions are 8.50-11.50 and 12.20-3.20.
If you meet the criteria above and are eligible to access up to 30 hours, your child can attend five days from 8.50am until 3.30pm.
Induction into Nursery:
We offer the following induction to children new to the Early Years Foundation Stage:-
· A parent information meeting
· Visits to the EYFS unit
· Nursery pupils have a staggered start through the first week.
Additional hours outside of universal hours can be purchased at a rate of £5.13 per hour. This is the same as the funded rate from the LA.
Please note that if a child stays all day there is a lunchtime supervision charge of £2.68 per day. This is because the school is funded for 6 hours per day but children attend for 6.5. A freshly cooked meal can be purchased for £2.10.
There are no charges for additional consumables such as fruit or milk. There may be requests for voluntary contributions for additional experiences (such as a visiting farm or planetarium experience) but these are voluntary.
Prospective parents/carers are welcome to come and view the school. The Headteacher will be available to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
We have an annual open day but tours and admission interviews are conducted as required. Please contact the school office to make an appointment.
